During her 40+ years’ experience in Local Government, Melanie held a variety of roles at Staffordshire County Council before finally settling into the world of the LGPS back in 1995. As a CIPFA qualified accountant she was appointed as the Assistant Director for Treasury and Pensions, in August 2017, and has spent the last 8 years working with her colleagues to develop all aspects of the £8 billion Staffordshire Pension Fund, as well as overseeing the Treasury Management activity for the Council, Police and Fire Authorities in Staffordshire. Melanie was instrumental in the development of the LGPS Central pool and was Chair of the pool’s Investment Working Group until very recently.
